Color Run!

On August 17th, my boyfriend Ray, roommate Courtney, Courtney's boyfriend/Ray's friend Nease, and friends Hannah and Nathan ran the Color Run in Savannah.  It was so much fun!  Hard to put into words the experience.  It wasn't something that completely blew my mind like I thought it would, but it was definitely something unique.  I'll sum things up with some pictures =)

Our "House" Picture - Before!

Ray and I - Before

The Runicorn!

We pirouetted

We failed at jumping - but we were happy!

We made a stop at the famous Forsyth Fountain

We had our vicious war faces

We finished!

We succeeded at jumping!

There were epic high fives

We succeeded again!

We played on the playground

We found the colored Runicorn after

We climbed things on the playground

We were Happy!

And we certainly colored outside the lines!
Have you ever done a color run?  What were your thoughts?
(Sorry for the out of order pictures!)

Small Hiatus

Hi all!

I'm sorry about being missing for about a month now.  Shame on me as a blogger, I know!  Things have been quite busy, though not really exciting if that makes sense.  I've been wrapping up summer, then a week and a half ago started back up at college.

I did have a small 2-day vacation with my boyfriend Ray, roommate Courtney, and her boyfriend/our friend Nease.  We were driving up to Atlanta to spend 2 days at Six Flags, but as we approached it it was thundering and lighting already, so we knew the rides would be closed.  So instead we went to the Aquarium and World of Coke!  I'd never been to either, and it was so much fun.  They're definitely great entertainment, and a fantastic way to spend a day.  There was even a Johnny Rockets!  It was very exciting.  Just a small note - SparkleSkirts are great for hanging out with fish and drinking copious amounts of soda.

Then the next day we finally went to Six Flags.  Long story short - it ended up pouring and thundering and lighting around 3 p.m., so we had to pack up and head out.  This also included buying trashy shorts and wearing them around Walmart to buy better ones.  It was a wet and unpleasant experience for sure!  But we had a lot of fun at the park.

My running has been going well, also.  I got up to 7 miles in 1:34:05, which I was proud of.  My goal was under 1:45 so I definitely made that!  I've found that a ratio of .25 mile walk/.25 mile run works pretty well for me.  At the end of this month, I'm going to start to try to run outside more, since I've been doing almost everything on the treadmill.  It's just so hot and sticky in Georgia, and you never know when it's going to rain!  I'm not talking about a little sprinkle, I'm talking about flash-flood level downpour with thunder and lightning, or else I'd tough it out.  I have a run of 8 miles coming up this weekend, which I'm excited and nervous for.  I'm over halfway to a half-marathon, but nervous about approaching double digits!

How did you feel as you increased your mileage?
I'll try to keep up with posting more often now!
