Feeling Overwhelmed

Well, with all the announcements regarding Disney races that have been going on, I'm feeling completely overwhelmed!

I want to do the Glass Slipper Challenge.  But at a $270 price tag, it's going to be hard to deal with financially.  My parents are currently supporting me, as I'm going to school full time and it's hard for me to find a job that works with that.  They pay for (almost) all of my races.  Tower of Terror they went half and half.  But maybe with a birthday coming up, they'll cover the whole thing?  I asked my mom to go half and half again, but she hasn't responded yet as they're traveling.  I also don't know if they'll believe in my physical ability to run both races.

Also - Race Retreat and getting my boyfriend the ChEAR Squad Platinum package.  Is it worth it?  Should I do it for just me? For both of us.  It will probably depend on how much (if any) money I get for my birthday.

And it's supposed to have been the Runner's World Running Streak.  Who did the first day, then missed the next two?  This girl.  I'm doing 3 miles today, hopefully, to make up for that, but I still feel like I let myself down.

Plus, the Galloway training plan for ToT starts Tuesday!

Money and training-wise, there seems to be a lot going on.  Hopefully it sorts itself out soon!

Is anyone else having similar concerns?

Dreaming

Hi, I'm Lauren, and I have an addiction to finding new blogs and reading them all the way through from the beginning. (Hi Lauren.)

However, doing this allows me to learn about other people's running journeys, and that maybe mine isn't so horrible, despite what it feels like.

It also lets me learn about new races that I want to do.  Keep in mind that I've never done more than a 5k.  I do have the 10 mile ToT race in October, then from there I want to do half marathons.  In my head, this will work great.  In reality....we'll see.

But now I've learned more about the Zooma and Diva half marathon series.  Both have races relatively close to here, and both sound really fun.

My absolute non-Disney dream race right now is the Nike Women's Half in D.C.  To have a running tour of D.C. and get a Tiffany's necklace as a medal seems amazing!

I also really want to do all of the races at Disney World.  Eventually, of course, I'd love to get Coast to Coast, but a trip to California just wouldn't work out right now.

For now though, I need to wait and see how my training goes.

What are your dream races?

Glow Run & Mile PR

Well, last night was the Glow Run, which turned into a definite fun-run instead of a race.  My boyfriend and I ran with a friend, but he started having knee issues.  This meant that we walked for probably just over half of it, technically only went 2.85 miles, and even had a 20 minute mile in there!  But it's a friend we don't get to see too often, and we had tons of fun, and we were glowing of course.

We saw one girl literally doubled over in pain in the middle of the course.  My first thought was "You're going to get run over!"  Then I found out that she wasn't even wearing socks, and she was trying to actually run!  Crazy, crazy people.

This morning was the Savannah Mile.  I had a tiny bit of soreness from last night, but nothing too bad.  It was nice and cool when we left to get downtown....and then the sun was fully up and it was a cloudless 70 degrees.  It doesn't sound like a lot, but I get wicked hot already when I'm running, so I think the heat did slow me down a little.  But I had a minute time of 11:43 according to my Garmin, 11:49 according to them (but it's gun time, not chip time).  I was hoping to be faster, but my first mile prior to this was 12:38, so I was content that I bumped it up.  I'm paying for it now with a sore hip, but I'm hoping it's just because I've been out of running for a little bit.

This upcoming week, I'm hoping to get running regularly.  I'm party of a gym, but I'd really rather run on the road.  The only problem is that there's no way this princess is waking up early enough to run before the sun, and my boyfriend isn't comfortable with me running at night, and the days are far too hot and sunny!  I'm hoping to thrown in some road runs on maybe an overcast/raining day.  We'll see how it goes!

5/24/2013

Hi!  I'm Lauren, I'm almost 21, and I'm ... working on being a running.  I'm also horrible at writing introductory posts.

I starting running (run/walk intervals) in March.  I had first read about the Disney Princess Half Marathon in February, and decided I wanted to run it.  Well, this of course meant I had to start running.  I'm a very nonathletic person, and always shied away from any sports.  It came as quite a shock to everyone when I said I wanted to start running!  But my boyfriend started up with me, because his mom had been bothering us for a while to run 5k's with her.  So far we've done 6, with another planned for tonight.

I'll post some stats, just so you can get an idea of my (lack of) running level.
Shamrock Run - March 8th - 46:35
Pride of Pooler - March 23rd - 46:33
Pink Power Run - March 30th - 42:36
Glow Run - April 6th - 45:26 (results from Garmin from 3.24 miles)
Race for the Cure - April 13th - not timed
Mother's Day Run - May 12th - 47:22 (results from Garmin for 3.35 miles)
