Thoughts on 2013

I'm just going to jump right into this, and list out a few thoughts.

1. I'm not honest with myself.  This is in regards to weight loss and running.  I don't do either diligently enough, and then wonder why it's not working.  Going forward into 2014, I'll eat cleaner, stop having so many snacks that I don't count, and truly truly try to run 3 times a week.

2.  I don't have enough me time.  I love living with my boyfriend and roommate but I just feel like I don't have enough time alone sometimes.  I do have my yoga, which is definitely me time, but sometimes I just want to be able to sit at the apartment by myself, and I feel like that doesn't happen enough.  I'll try to work in some alone time going forward.

3.  I don't keep in touch with people enough.  This goes for family and friends.  I feel like I have a very small social circle, and I'd like to expand that.  Even if it's just keeping in touch with people from New Hampshire, etc. and not actually hanging out with someone, I'd like to be more social.

4.  I'm not very smart with my money.  I won't go into details, because I'm sure everyone has gone through this.  Going forward I'd like to keep honest track of what I'm spending on, and spend it more wisely, therefore putting more in my savings.

5.  I'm not organized enough.  This is in regards to school, the apartment, all sorts of things.  I'd love to get a super in depth planner to keep track of everything (like Erin Condren ones -hint hint-) and put aside extra time for cleaning every couple days so things don't pile up.

I have tons of smaller thoughts as well, but these are my major ones.

What changes are you trying to make in the new year?
Lauren

  1. Yes, I think these are thoughts we all have once in a while!
One of my goals is to maybe get out and do more group fitness or interact with others more. I like working out alone, but I think doing it with others might add a new dimension to my routine!

    1. That's true! I've never run with anyone more than my boyfriend but we just joined a running club that will hopefully help with that!

  2. Can I just write "ditto"? My biggest focuses for 2014 are to eat clean and get to my goal weight, to pay down 20% of my debt and to get FASTER (which getting to my goal weight should do) and STRONGER (so I guess I actually have to strength train!).

  3. I'm going to try and eat less processed foods in 2014 and also try and put a positive spin on everything that comes my way. I'm at home in Chicago and have been feeling sad, so I can't wait to get back into my life/groove when I get back to Florida.

    1. Those are both so important =) You might be sad because of the weather, especially since you're used to Florida! I used to get that way sometimes in New Hampshire during the winter.

  4. I think writing this post definitely helps with your #1...being honest with yourself :)

Sometimes tough truths to ourselves are necessary to move forward. I think the Me time you have is a great idea - I don't get a lot of it either, really just when I'm running. May make this a personal goal for 2014 too! Best of luck on all your goals next year, I know you'll do great!

    1. Thank you so much! And I hope when I stop being honest with myself, I can look at this post and be reminded of where I'm coming from and what I want!

  5. This is such an honest post! I think it is really hard to admit most of these things to yourself--and to say them out loud. In 2014 my biggest goal is to be focused--I feel like I start a million things and try to do them all at once. I'm trying to make dinner while writing a blog and checking my FB and doing a puzzle with my kid...and I'm not doing any of it well. So next year, one thing at a time! :)

    1. Thanks, I try for honesty! haha

And I totally understand what you mean about focus. My grades started slipping last semester, but when I actually looked at why I knew I was on Facebook/blogs/Twitter/Instagram etc while studying - I never just focused on it. It seems so simple but it's so hard!
